Matched post 2- CarlyB10

I believe that Cassia should stay with Xander. I say this because Xander was her match and they have alot in common. Also they have known each other since they were little and have grown up together and the fact that the two of them got matched together is very rare and I believe that they should have taken full advantage of the opportunity that they got. I think that Xander was the perfect match for Cassia. Although Cassia and Ky clicked when they got to know each other more I still think Xander is better for Cassia. Ky is also an abberation which means he can not be in love he has to remain single. If the glitch in the micro card never happened and Ky's face never popped up on the screen Cassia would be better off and she wouldn't have to worry about anything because she would be happy with Xander.

Matched Post One

In the novel, 'Matched', the main character Cassia lives in a dystopian society which controls everything perfectly. They choose when you're "matched" with another person, and when you marry your Match. They also decide when you die, which is at the "healthy" age of 80. It is told in first person from Cassia's point of view. Her issue comes when she is matched with her best friend, Xavier, but falls in love with Ky, who was shown to her as her match after a glitch occurred in the system. Overall, this book was OK. I found it a little generic and anticlimactic. The author described what Cassia looked like by having her look in the lid of her compact, which is almost as unoriginal as having the main character look in a mirror. I could tell who was part of the love triangle the minute Ky's character was described. Finally, it had the same ideas any other dystopian book has, odd names, random words capitalized (such as Hall), and pills that do stuff to you. But besides this, the book kept my attention and I enjoyed it, so I would recommend it to anyone who likes a book with romance and a controlling government.

Ovarl review

I truly couldn't stand reading this book match every page I turned just made me dislike the book more and more. I feel like that she could have made this trilogy into 1 book there was an extra 200pages of detail that was unneeded. A recommendation if u have time to read the books while trilogy do it. I guess with 2more books of detail it has to get good some where but the book just ended.

Post 2

Cassia has relationships with both Xander and Ky. Xander has been her best friend and neighbor for a long time, while Ky was always a mysterious and quiet boy. He would talk to Cassia once in awhile, but she didn't know much about him. Cassia got to know Ky more when he hiked with her at the same time. She learned that Ky was very smart and had desires like her, to write poems and songs even though the Society didn't allow it. Although Ky showed Cassia how to write, I think that I like her better with Xander. Xander was Matched with her first, so she should stick with him. He's always been there for her, and she was happy about him being her Match until the glitch of Ky came on the micro card. I think Cassia wouldn't have been so curious about Ky if she hadn't seen his face on the micro card. I feel that it would be safe for Cassia to try to not talk to Ky, so she doesn't develop feelings for him. Feelings for Ky would hurt Xander and complicate everything. The Society wouldn't like that, and Cassia could get in a lot of trouble. Also, Ky is a Abberation, so it could be hard to be with him. She should learn to love her real Match, which is Xander, so that there isn't secrecy and drama in her life, which is supposed to be "perfect".

Post 1

This book takes place in the far future of time where people called the Society control everything for the people in the provinces all around. The main protagonist Cassie Reyes lives in Province One with her family. The Society provides everything for the people to make sure that everything is perfect in their lives. The people have a choice of being matched with someone for life, so they can later start a family with only that Match. Everyone dies peacefully when they reach the age of eighty, because the Society arranges their death like that. Cassia had always thought the Society was making their lives perfect, but she started to see how the Society really was when there was a glitch on her micro card. Originally, she was matched with her best friend Xander, which was a rare situation since they live in the same province. Cassia was relieved that Xander was her Match since she wouldn't have to get to her Match like everybody else. She hadn't thought of ever being with him since they were always close best friends, but she was happy it was him. But after seeing Ky Markham's profile on her micro card, she questions whether or not it was a mistake she was matched with Xander. I predict that Cassia will get closer to Ky and start to like him. She will do what she wants in the Society, and find out what is really going on with its ways. Ky will get in the way of Cassia's relationship with Xander, and she'll have to choose whether she'll go against the Society rules to be with Ky, or stay with Xander like she's supposed to.

The book Matched is about love. In Cassia Reyes's Society they have a match banquet to find who they are going to spend the rest of there lives together with. Cassia just so happened to matched with her best friend Xander by the goverment and Cassia was thrilled that it was someone that she actually knew so she didnt have to be so nervous anymore. Until there was a glitch in the matching and Cassia got matched with the boy she really liked, who became her true love Ky Markham. The only problem between the two of them is that Ky is a aberration and Cassia is not. Ky needs to remain unmatched just in case his father commits a crime which is aberration in there society.

In the beginning of the book Matched, the author states all facts very quickly. The banquet happens so fast and since all the important details were stated in the beginning of the book, it makes the middle of the book boring. I'm halfway into the book and it seems to be going very slow. It just explains the conflict between Cassia and Ky and it drags out for a long time. Although the author adds very descriptive words throughout the book, it doesn't make the plot any better. My opinion of Ky and Cassia is I think that they would make a better match than Cassia and Xander. They seem to have a lot in common. Although Cassia and Xander were best friends before they were matched, doesn't mean that they should be a perfect pair. Cassia and Ky usually see each other in common places, like the hiking activity and the theatre. However, even though they seem to be a good match, Ky could never be with Cassia because of his past.

In the novel Matched by Allie Condie, everyone's lives are already sorted out. People are assigned who they will be with for the rest of their life and they are even told what to eat. People in the society seem to go along with it though. However, the main character Cassia is ready for her match banquet. This is when she finds out who she is going to be with for the rest of her life. Her best friend Xander is also attending this banquet coincidentally. People are usually matched with someone from a different area. Not a person from the same banquet their at. Cassia is waiting for her match to be shown on the big screen when she soon finds out that her match is her best friend Xander. Allie Condie creates a great beginning of the book. It hooked me in as a reader and wants me to read more of the novel. Being that I'm only a quarter the way into the book, I believe it's great so far. Their are many cliffhangers that leave me in suspense and its great for me because it makes me think. Matched is a great book so far and I can't wait to see what more conflicts and decisions Cassia has to choose or solve!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Matched and I would strongly recommend this book to others. I think the book would be focused towards the young adult audience. It is complicated enough for older readers, yet there is nothing written in the book that would be inappropriate for younger readers. The romance is the main focus of the story and also the importance of poetry, and creating things that are original.
I thought that the way the novel was set up really captivated my attention even from the beginning. The Society controlling everything, making citizens depend on it, and the overall forbidden love story all fit together well. The pacing of the novel was spot on and the voice shown by the author was evident. One element of the book that I was interested in was the setting. I like how the reader could decide if it was a true perfect society or not. I was interested in how there were tablets that people carried around in the society especially the green tablet. It showed how the people in the society were not able to handle stress and anxiety well and they needed a supplement to help them through rough times. I was able to make the connection of people in present day society, having to take anxiety medication when needed. In conclusion, I really like the novel and thought it was well paced and was based around very thought provoking ideas.

Theme in a novel is the underlying meaning or main idea. In the book, Matched by Ally Condie, there were multiple themes. One theme that stood out was love. Looking at the novel as a whole, it is a forbidden love story. As the story begins, Cassia attends a match banquet to find out who she will spend the rest of her life with and who she will love. In the Utopian society that she lives in, the government determines every individuals match. Each individual in the society, at the age of seventeen, discovers their match. After Cassia's match banquet, a major conflict rises as her microchip shows two different matches. The first face shown was Xander, her childhood best friend and the second face was also a familiar one who goes by the name of Ky, who is not accepted by the society due to his father. Throughout the novel, Cassia is torn between the government's match they made for her and the love and passion she feels toward Ky. In the end, the government forbids Cassia to pursue Ky, or else she will become an aberration. This does not stop Cassia from continuing her flourishing love for Ky as she moves to the station where Ky is said to be working. The theme of love is evident throughout the book through Cassia's actions and feelings towards Ky, Xander, as well as her family members. The theme of love keeps the reader interested, and also creates many of the conflicts in the book due to the strict Utopian society.

Overall, I liked the book. I thought it was interesting because it made the reader decide whether it should be classified as a utopian society or dystopian society. Even though Cassia's government claims its perfect, by matching each person to their 'true' soul mate, it takes away a person's freedom by not choosing who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Also, every person dies at 80 because the government poisons their food. There is a chance that the government could revive you later in time, but in the case of Cassia's grandfather, he didn't want to come back and her father destroyed the tissue sample that could allow her grandfather's revival. Once again, there is a loss of freedom evident in this because the government essentially controls the life span of each person.

The conflicts of Matched involve forbidden love. Cassia is matched by the government with her best friend Xander, but through a glitch, her true love, Ky Markham is revealed. However, Ky is an aberration, which means he needs to remain single because someone in his family or him, in Ky's case his father, committed a crime. Cassia gradually begins to like Ky when she spends more time with him. Ky teaches Cassia how to write and Cassia falls in love with Ky. Nevertheless, the government forbids Cassia to continue her relationship with Ky and informs her that if she remains lovers with him, she'll become and Aberration herself. Not considering the warning, Cassia remains with Ky and Ky gave her a stanza of a Dylan Thomas poem, and Cassia kisses Ky. All in all Cassia is conflicted because the she trusts the governments' decisions but, she can't help her feelings for Ky. In the end, Cassia is moved to the station where Ky is believed to be working with and she hopes she can rekindle her relationship with Ky, no matter what the government says.
