The relationship between Cassia and Ky was especially interesting because of the idea of forbidden love. Cassia was matched with her best friend Xander, the ideal husband and was more than happy at first. When she saw Ky on the screen instead of Xander, everything changed in Cassia's mind. She had been interested in Ky's life ever since she found out that he was an aberration but her curiosity grew when his picture appeared on her screen. When their hiking course began, Cassia was automatically intrigued by Ky, and wanted to know more about him. Throughout the novel Cassia starts to slowly fall in love with him. This causes her personality to slightly change. In the beginning of the book Cassia sees her society as nothing more than a way of life, and she is completely fine with that. I noticed that after she began to fall in love with Ky, her thoughts and opinions of society changed. She wanted something she couldn't have, which was Ky, and realized that that was society's fault. This caused her to rebel against society for the one she loved. Like when she kissed Ky even after the official told her that she would become an aberration if she did. Cassia fought against the officials when they tried to take Ky and destroyed the red tablet when she was told to take it. Cassia and Ky's forbidden love caused Cassia to change in an interesting way making Matched a lot more interesting.
