I really enjoyed this novel. I thought that the plot was very well developed as were the characters. My favorite character in this book is Cassia. She starts out as a girl who fully trusts all the rules of society and believes that they are completely right all the time but as the book goes on she starts to break out from all of societies rules and begins thinking for herself. At her matching ceremony, Xander's face appears on-screen  and Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate until  Ky Markham's face quickly flashes  for an instant before the screen fades to black. Society claims it's a glitch and Cassia goes along with it and continues on with her life until she starts to fall in love, but not with Xander. This is when she questions the rules and whether they truly act upon what is best for each person. This book is very relatable especially for teenagers because many young adults are pressured by society's standards like Cassia but she choses to go her own way and live her own life instead of listening to people telling her what she should do instead of what she wants for herself.

I completely agree with Molly. One of the themes in this novel would be freedom in society. The more time Cassia spent with Ky hiking and being around each other we see her start to question everything around her. Questing everything she's ever known. Also the idea of a perfect society It is humanly impossible to have a perfect society, no matter what there is going to be cracks and always something wrong. When Molly talked about how in this society you knew when you were going to die who you could love and basically knew the outcome of everything, she is absolutely right. That is not doing anything except taking away people's rights that they rightfully own.
