Matched Post #1

I really liked the beginning of Matched. Ally Condie did a very nice job of building up the relationship between Xander and Cassia. Right away I was able to identify how close the relationship between the pair actually was. Xander notices all the signs that Cassia is nervous about her upcoming Matching Banquet. They are best friends, so they can easily talk about exactly how they feel. The way they compliment each other's looks also hinted that there might be some sort of relationship. Once they are Matched, I liked how Xander seemed to be happy and even smiled to find that Cassia will be the one he marries. I had a feeling that he had a thing for Cassia all along. Later on, once Ky comes into the picture, I was slightly annoyed that the perfect match between Cassia and Xander may be coming to an end. The way the pair just seemed to fit together made it seem like Ky was ruining the perfect couple. It was only until after I got to know Ky's character that I changed my mind.

I agree with you. Ally Condie did a exceptional job writing this novel. Automatically it was easy to identify the relationship between Cassia and Xander. After Ky was introduce I knew Ky and Cassia would be perfect together. The connection between them was unique. The relationship between her and Xander was only good as friends. They fit more as friends and I was happy Ky came in the picture.

I agree with you, the beginning was very well written, and it was easy to identify Xander and Cassia's relationship. I think that Xander would have been the safer match. Cassia would no t have gotten into trouble or run into the government so much if she had stayed with Xander. At first I also didn't want them to break up, but I think that they are better off as friends and that Ky and Cassia are better off together. I think that it was also a little bit awkward when Xander and Cassia were matched. They were best friends and now they're going to have to get married. I thought that she must be feeling awkward, so I was happy when she decided to be with Ky instead.
