One of the main themes in the novel Matched is forbidden love. The novel takes place in a dystopian society so the society decides who Cassia's perfect match is which is who she'll be with for the rest of her life.  During the beginning of the novel, Cassia is getting ready to attend her Match Banquet and she ends up getting matched with Xander who's her best friend that she's known her whole life. After the Match Banquet, she receives a microchip with information about Xander and when she goes to watch it, she's faced with a major conflict because it shows two different people. The first match is she sees is Xander and moments later, Ky's face appears on the screen. Throughout the rest of the novel, Cassia struggles with her feelings for Ky even though she has already been matched with Xander. Although the society warns Cassia about her feelings for Ky, she continues to see him when they go hiking together. Cassia's feelings for Ky continue to get stronger throughout the novel as they share poems, artifacts and stories together. At the end of the novel, Ky is sent away to another province but Cassia still promises herself that she'll find him. All in all, the novel Matched revolves around the theme of forbidden love which keeps the novel interesting.

I agree with MonicaJ9. The theme of the novel, Matched is forbidden love. When Cassia views what is on the microchip, two faces appear. Xander and Ky. Throughout the novel, Cassia creates stronger feelings for Ky, but he is eventually sent to a differnet society. Cassia believes that they will reunite one day. Overall, I agree with Monica. The theme of the novel, Matched is forbidden love between two boys, Xander and Ky.
